Ann Hassett
Founder, Curator and Resident Artist of Art Harbour
Ann Hassett is a contemporary artist and the founder, curator, and resident artist of Art Harbour, a gallery and collective exhibition space in Saint Helena Bay. A self-taught artist, Ann's practice has developed through years of independent exploration of medium, atmosphere, and emotion.
This journey has led to the development of her distinctive style, which she describes as Interpretive Impressionism — a way of painting that seeks to capture the spirit and movement of a subject rather than its exact detail.
Her work is deeply influenced by the natural rhythms of the West Coast. Through shifting light, wind-swept landscapes, and the quiet presence of the sea, Ann's paintings explore the atmosphere and emotional landscape of the places she calls home.
While watercolour remains a central part of her practice — valued for its transparency and soft, "lost and found" edges — she also works in oils and acrylics, allowing her to explore richer textures and a broader physical presence on canvas.
Her recent collection, "Land, Wind, and Sea," reflects this ongoing relationship with the elemental forces of the West Coast landscape.
In 2026, Ann expanded her studio practice with the opening of Art Harbour at De Palm Lifestyle Centre in Saint Helena Bay. The gallery was created as a space where artists and visitors can connect with work that reflects the character, people, and natural beauty of the West Coast.
